No phone line, no internet. No internet, not much of a fun BarCamp, so we’re exceptionally pleased that Metranet who have supported us for the previous three BarCamps are once again pulling out all the stops.

This time, they’ve gone above and beyond the call of duty and have put in a temporary site-specific, dedicated 5mpbs symmetric uncontended WiMAX connection. It involved a little more than just plugging in a microfilter and an ADSL router. Take a look at the photoset.

If you’re a Brighton and Hove business and want a service with prices which significantly undercut alternatives such as SDSL, IPStream or leased lines, then get in touch.

Good news! There will be an arrival breakfast, kindly sponsored by The Guardian. Make sure you get to the event for 10AM and fill yourself up for a day of fun sessions.

Here’s a message from the Guardian:

“Guardian.co.uk one of the largest news sites, with 18M international users, has won the Webby award for the Best Newspaper Website for the last 3 years.

Recently guardian.co.uk has undergone a transformation that has seen a redesign and a change in information architecture to be more resource oriented. Behind the scenes, the technology platform has been completely replaced and updated using agile development methods.

We’re really pleased to be sponsoring and taking part in Brighton’s 3rd BarCamp, and look forward to meeting you all there!”

Yes, we are pleased to announce The Guardian will be in attendence at the event – so keep an eye out for their talks! Thanks again guys.

The Yahoo! Developer Network recently redesigned their site so now its even easier to plug in to the Yahoo! Other new initiatives listed on their site include the 3.0 preview, Fire Eagle for location aware apps, the Yahoo!
Its clearly an exciting time at YDN and its great to have them on board as sponsors.

BBC Backstage have been involved with previous BarCamps and will be continuing to support the grassroots community of designers and developers through a new set of initiatives starting at dConstruct. We should also keep an eye out for their joint Christmas party with locations in both Manchester and London, sure to sell out quickly.

Our Sunday breakfast sponsors, Adobe, wanted to let you all know about an event they are running in London on the 28th August.

Flex Camp London 08 is a FREE, community-run event for everyone interested in Adobe Flex! Whether you’re just getting started with Flex or you’re an expert, Flex Camp aims to provide something for you.

We’ve lined up some of the most experienced Flex developers in the UK who will share their knowledge on everything from creating your first application, connecting to data, creating components and development best practices through to selecting an application framework for larger projects.

Flex Camp is an afternoon/evening event from 2PM and is being held at Conway Hall. It looks like there might be free pizza and beers from the agenda on their site (don’t quote me on that though) and there are some really interesting speakers, chances to show some of your work, and giveaways – could be well worth the trip.
